Large format printer rebrands as ‘Just AJD’ amid growth plans

[ad_1]

A South Coast large format printer has rebranded and is poised to expand its senior team as it marks the beginning of a significant growth phase.

Formerly known as AJD Group and Just GB Limited, the Wimborne, Dorset-based company will now trade as Just AJD, as it looks to make a series of changes over the coming year. The business’s new website launched today (30 September).

Managing director Andrew Ballington-James told Printweek that the rebrand, which was on the cards for the past 6-8 months, aimed to “bring the company forward” and make it more “up to date,” as he looks to step back from his role in 2026.

Ballington-James founded the company in the late 1990s, with Just AJD specialising in custom-made banners, roller banners, signage, posters, display stands, hoardings, and canvas prints.

As part of the growth strategy, Ballington-James will move to the role of executive chairman, with Stephen Russell taking over as managing director next year, along with James Arnold stepping up as production director.

Both Russell and Arnold have worked with Ballington-James since they left school, he added.

The company has also purchased a new HP Latex R530 flatbed printer as part of the expansion drive, which is currently on order from Spain. Manufactured mainly from refurbished parts, the pruchase aims to boost the company’s sustainability offering and help to reduce wastage.

Commenting on the purchase, Ballington-James said: “It’s ticking all the boxes. And helps working with the local government and how they want companies to be proactive on sustainability.”

Plans have also been finalised to build a new mezzanine floor at its Wimborne facility to house the new printer while there are also hopes to put solar panels on the roof to make the company more self-sufficient.

The company works mainly with government bodies, councils, schools and colleges, including the Metropolitan Police, Transport for London, the YMCA and NHS Trusts.

In the private sector the firm works closely with national print management firms like PSL Management, CDS Printer Solutions, Cubiquity Media, and Good Impressions.

The company is looking to invest around £200,000 in its upcoming growth strategy, which includes the purchase of the new HP printer.

Ballington-James said: “We’ve developed a trusted network of preferred supplier relationships over the years. While price is always a factor, our customers value reliability and quality above all else — they need their print delivered on time and to the highest standard.

Despite the challenging economic climate, we’re in the fortunate position to invest a six-figure sum into our 2026 expansion. We are going to play to our strengths and seek to market our services to more local authorities and NHS Trusts, and will also leverage further our existing relationships with the print management companies.”
