Wicked: For Good character is more visible in LEGO set than film

One of the new characters in Wicked: For Good has been revealed to be more prominent in a LEGO set as a minifigure than in the new film.

Empire’s current content for Wicked: For Good has revealed a swathe of news regarding the musical sequel, including how The Wizard of Oz characters will feature in the film, and why Dorothy is deliberately not the focus. This consequently means that one of the sequel’s LEGO sets likely has a more prominent appearance of Dorothy than the movie itself.

It’s stated that Dorothy won’t quite be a character in the film, despite the impact she will have on the narrative, and that she is seen largely from a distance, or from behind. Looking at footage from the trailer, we can see what the report means. The trailer never shows Dorothy’s face and keeps her at a distance from the camera, and it would appear that this will remain true for the full film.

“I think that’s such a wonderful thing to do,” Cynthia Erivo tells Empire, “because then everyone gets to keep the Dorothy that they know.”

This decision only increases the impact of one of the new LEGO Wicked: For Good models. 75685 Emerald City Wall Art features the first Dorothy minifigure since The LEGO Movie 2 minifigure series, revealing her front and face, unlike what is reported to be the case for most of the film.

Notably, the set still allows you to stay true to the movie and keeps the focus on Glinda and Elphaba. When 75685 Emerald City Wall Art is displayed on a wall, Dorothy, Cowardly Lion, Scarecrow and Tin Man must be stored underneath the Munchkinland section of the build while Elphaba and Glinda have dedicated spots that keep them visible at all times.

The quartet still appears when displaying the set like this, printed on a tile at the start of the Yellow Brick Road and in the distance compared to Elphaba and Glinda. You’ll still have the option of seeing Dorothy’s face and front at all times, and can bring her as close to your camera (or eyes) as you like.

It will be interesting to see just how prominent she is in Wicked: For Good when the sequel is released on November 21, 2025, but the report suggests that she is more visible in the LEGO set than in the movie. 75685 Emerald City Wall Art is available now for £139.99 / $159.99 / €149.99 and has proven to be popular with its partial debut of LEGO Wicked minifigures.
