Sudarsan Pattnaik, once a child labourer on the shores of Odisha’s Puri Beach, has risen to prominence as a celebrated sand artist. His latest exhibition in Mumbai’s Pu La Deshpande Kala Academy showcases over 50 mixed-media works, blending sand and paint to create powerful visual narratives.

Pattnaik, honoured with a Padma Shri, employs blues, yellows, and earth tones to highlight the interplay between nature and human impact. His artworks reflect his journey from transient sand sculptures to permanent canvases, inspired by his past struggles and present achievements.

Beyond sand artistry, Pattnaik’s vibrant canvases address climate change, featuring motifs of water and animals. Each piece is unique and draws from his deep emotional engagement with art, intending to leave a lasting impression and inspire future generations.
