Kelly Nicole: The Unhidden Hand

This week we welcome Kelly Nicole, a painter whose work is defined by raw emotional power and immersive, tactile technique. Using only her hands, she blends oil, acrylic and metal leaf directly onto canvas, rejecting traditional tools in favor of a more immediate, physical connection to her materials. This finger-painting approach allows her to channel complex inner landscapes into layered compositions that are both visceral and symbolic.

Nicole’s work often explores themes of healing, transformation and the quiet strength found in vulnerability. Shaped by personal loss and the act of rebuilding, her paintings speak to the human capacity for renewal. Each gesture becomes a mark of presence, resilience and emotional truth.

In Nicole’s words: “My art is a journey into the psyche, an intimate dance with the spectrum of feelings that reside within the depths of the mind. As I paint using only my fingers, each stroke, each hue, is a word in the language of both touch and color. My work does not shy away from the complexity of our inner worlds but rather embraces it, challenging the viewer to confront the full range of their own emotional experience. It is a mirror reflecting the multifaceted nature of our thoughts and feelings, a mirror that asks us to acknowledge and accept the beautiful chaos that is being human.”
