Leading artist Sujata Dharap, a Puneite whose artistic growth was nurtured by her late father, the renowned artist Bal Wad, is holding her latest exhibition ‘Found Surfaces’ in New Delhi.
“During my trip to Bali, I found some old, worn-out wood planks that inspired a new series. I used this wood to make broad frames for my paintings, and their edges guided the story within, like telling a tale in reverse.
Working with this surface led me on an exciting journey, keeping its unique qualities intact, making both the process and the outcome thrilling,” said Dharap.
Distinguished figures like Dr Sanjeev Goutam, director-general of the National Gallery of Modern Art, Sandeep Marwah of AAFT, artist Ananda Moy Banerji, landscape architect Dr. Priyaleen Singh, and Jayant Dharap were present at the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
The exhibition, which is taking place at the India Habitat Centre’s Visual Art Gallery on Lodhi Road, New Delhi, from March 19 to 25, from 10:30 am to 7:30 pm, takes visitors on a thrilling journey through Dharap’s artistic investigation of “Found Surfaces”.
