An endlessly heartwarming tale of two separate worlds is portrayed through delicate art at “A Cold Day In July“, which kicks off today and runs until Aug 18 at the RCB Photographers’ Gallery, 2nd floor of River City Bangkok, Charoen Krung 24.
This is the first solo exhibition in seven years by celebrated artist Art Jeeno, who masterfully translates the delicate and fragile essence of human emotions onto canvas, evoking a profound and heartfelt response in every viewer.
The exhibition’s title is an idiom that refers to a time or event that seems unlikely or will never come. It draws its roots from the fact that the weather in Europe is usually very hot in July. In tropical regions like Thailand, the month coincides with the rainy season, making the prospect of a cold day nearly impossible.
For this show, which highlights Art Jeeno’s growth and unique contribution to the art world, he blends his signature technique of manga-style storytelling with oil and canvas to narrate tales of impossibility.
Through the characters “He/Him” and “She/Her”, who exist in the same world yet are utterly different in every dimension, the artist explores themes of contrast and divergence with profound artistic insight.
A three-time winner of the prestigious Japan International Manga Award, Art Jeeno is reputed for his ability to convey the delicate and ephemeral thoughts and emotions of humans through facial expressions and actions, which have become his distinctive artistic signature.
