Step into a world where opera is shaped as much by the eye as by the ear. In this talk, opera singer and BBC opera consultant Helen Astrid will examine how great works of fine art have inspired some of the most striking opera productions seen on the international stage.
Anglo-Austrian Helen Astrid is a highly engaging speaker having graduated from the Royal Academy of Music. She performed as a soprano soloist at most of the major venues in the UK including English National Opera, Linbury Theatre Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Garsington Opera and Chelsea Opera at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, South Bank.
Previous speaking engagements have been for Courtauld Institute of Art, Wild Arts Opera, Cambridge University, Plymouth University, Marlborough College, Imperial College, Benslow Music, Landmark Arts Centre and Bishopsgate Institute. Helen lives in London and enjoys German Expressionist art, architecture, travelling and tennis.
