Bonnyville Library hands out mini canvases for art show

BONNYVILLE – The Bonnyville Municipal Library is handing out free mini canvases to those who would like to participate in a mini canvas art show.

All art forms are welcome, and all ages are encouraged to participate.

The mini canvases can be picked up from the front desk at the Bonnyville Library while supplies last from Oct. 15 until Nov. 2 and must be returned by Nov. 6 to be entered into the mini-canvas art show.

Library staff member Jessica Robbins says they had seen another area library host a mini canvas art show, and thought it was a great idea, especially as small towns don’t often have an abundance of venues where people can showcase their art.

“Any art you can think of, you can put on the canvas,” says Robbins. Participants in the past have used paint, crochet, clay, collage, and other materials to decorate their mini canvases.

Robbins recalls how children were especially excited to see their artwork displayed in a public library where other people can see it – and to be able to take it home afterwards.

The art show will take place from Nov. 18 until Dec. 7. The mini canvases will be returned to the artist after the show.
