Romford Banksy? artwork of ostriches spotted in Gidea Park

The street art – which many residents have said might belong to anonymous artist Banksy – has been sighted on the corner of Crossways after being spray painted in the early hours of this morning (August 13).

It features three ostriches appearing to huddle around a red telephone box, two of which look as if they have their heads buried.

If these birds are confirmed as Banksy’s, they would be his tenth piece in just nine days in London.

Observant Facebook users have been quick to spot a possible deeper meaning behind this latest artwork, especially with its location next to picture framing shop The Picture Frame Galley.

Jane Keane said: “Oh and on the site of a former mural that had to be taken down which I thought was a pity since it was next to a shop that sells modern art.

“Well that is wonderfully poetic.

“Love that it’s framed too!”

Family-run pub The Ship, in Gidea Park, also posted a photo of the possible new Banksy, saying: “Is it a real one … Banksy?”

Banksy has captured the attention of the capital since August 5, with a whole series of animal artworks – including monkeys, elephants, a wolf, and a cat – all of which have been installed overnight.

The latest piece confirmed as belonging to the famous street artist appeared on the shutters of London Zoo just last night, showing a gorilla lifting it up, allowing a number of birds to escape.

Banksy has typically said whether he is behind the creations at 1pm each day, however he has already posted a picture of the ZSL London Zoo art to confirm it is his this morning.

Time will tell whether these three ostriches belong to Banksy.
