ARTISTS inspired by an Easter Ross town’s famous mural trail rose to the challenge when invited to create a piece inspired by what they saw.

And now members of the public are being invited to vote for their favourite now on display in Invergordon Museum.

Local activists are aiming to stoke local pride in the community through an ongoing special weekend of events.

Following on from Invergordon Off the Wall‘s ‘Our Invergordon’ day held in 2023, the aim is to build up to an eventual week of festival/gala events in the town.

Invergordon Off the Wall has this year coordinated events with Invergordon RNLI, with three days of activities and events for residents and visitors.

There’s already been a great response to the Pro-Loco artistic challenge.

Invergordon Off the Wall explained: “We asked artists to complete artwork within [a day] using The Loch mural or Invergordon in general as their inspiration. Artists chose various venues in the town to take part.

“Pop along to Invergordon Museum on Saturday or Sunday and vote for your winner.”

There’s a prize of £150 available for the artwork with the most votes.

The group said: “Thank you to all for taking part.

“It’s all down to YOU to vote. £150 prize on offer for the artwork with the most votes.

“We wish all of our entrants good luck, and can’t wait to see who wins the prize!”

16 shops and businesses along the High Street and into Castle Road also joined IOTW in celebrating the 21st anniversary of The Loch mural with a treasure trail challenge.

Invergordon Off the Wall also this weekend launched its new mural map leaflet packs. The leaflet includes a souvenir postcard, this year promoting the 21st anniversary of The Loch mural.

Leaflets were created by Invergordon Off the Wall, and one of its original mural artists, Tracey Shough. Tracey created the Invergordon murals Our Legacy and The Long Goodbye.

Creation and printing of the leaflets with souvenir postcard was provided by Port of Cromarty Firth.

Sales of these map packs, at £2.50 each, will create a fund for Invergordon Off the Wall to maintain its murals for the future.

Following the weekend’s events, leaflet packs will be available to purchase from various locations within the town.
